The UEFA Executive Committee will hold one its most important meetings in recent times since they will try and find all the possible formulas to try and complete the 2019-20 season if possible. This refers to the domestic leagues as well as the Champions League and Europa League which are all still suspended due to the coronavirus.
The Executive Committee want to try and complete the season. Although there is a lot of uncertainly over how the pandemic will develop and when some sort of normality will be restored across countries.
Therefore, there is talk of using July and August, usually reserved for pre-season, to try and complete the campaigns and slightly delay the start of next season.
They will also analyse which should happen if the season cannot be completed especially how would Champions League and Europa League places for next season be decided. It seems like each competition organiser could make that decision for themselves.
In Spain that would cause as the Spanish FA proposal upset some clubs like Atletico, Getafe and Valencia and led to LaLiga saying that the RFEF did not have the power to decide that.
UEFA must also look at international football and how to rearrange those competitions. Euro 2020 has already been put back a year and the 2021 Women’s Euros could well be moved to 2022 as well
