Automobile giants Toyota yesterday announced that it would be investing $500million on the self driving cars Uber and they would be working together.

Uber plans to retrofit Toyota Sienna minivans with its autonomous technology and begin real-world testing in 2021.

President of Toyota in a statement said “This agreement and investment marks an important milestone in our transformation to a mobility company,”

This is not the first time Toyota would be investing hugely on tech as In 2015 it invested $1 billion in the Toyota Research Institute artificial intelligence lab.

Institute CEO Gill Pratt said in a statement Monday that the Uber partnership would accelerate efforts to deliver autonomous technology.

This partnership by both companies would accelerate growths for both Toyota and Uber .
